Drill driven car race

A vehicle made of cellulose and powered by a standard cordless screwdriver. That was the condition for the cordless screwdriver race at the HAWK University in Hildesheim. We accepted the challenge and started with a vehicle design as Team Swiss. The material for the vehicles is called Kraftplex. Like paper, it is made of 100% cellulose and is made from renewable raw materials without the addition of adhesives and without bleach. Because of its amazing strength, it is also called sheet wood. With the Kraftplex material, a distance of at least 60 cm between the axes must be bridged in a structurally supporting manner. In addition, the vehicle may only be operated with a Bosch cordless screwdriver. The race was not just about speed, but also about showing an unusual design solution. Team SWISS achieved 2nd place.
